Parker County election results

With a huge turnout in early voting it should come as no surprise that numbers were going to be big at the end of election day in Parker County. More than 11,000 decided to avoid the lines and cast their ballots early.

In the most high profile races, Judge - County Court of Law #2, incumbent Curtis Jenkins finished ahead of challenger Lynn Marie Johnson with 7,683 votes, or at 36 percent. Johnson came in with 7,480 votes - 35.5 percent. Deborah Kernan rounded out the three claiming 5,926 votes or 28 percent. (Runoff May 24)

In the race for County Tax Assessor-Collector Jennifer “Jenny” Gentry finished on top with 8,639 ballots cast, or at 43 percent. Susan Scott came in second finishing with 6,866 votes or 34 percent; while Susan Hinsley came in third with 4,714 votes or at 23 percent. (Runoff May 24)

For Constable, Precinct 1 Charlie Hunt took the most votes in the five man race with 1,635 votes or 38 percent of the ballots cast. His nearest challenger, Joe Slinkard, came in with 942 votes or at 22 percent.

In the two big national races Ted Cruz took the most votes in the Republican race for president with 12,883 ballots cast, compared to his rival Donald Trump, with 7,944 votes. Marco Rubio finished a distant third with 3,495 votes.

On the Democrat side Hillary Clinton finished ahead of Bernie Sanders with 1,800 votes cast to Sanders 1,474.
