Small business owners know that getting any sort of social media/marketing training for free is hard to come by.
But Weatherford’s Lisa Graves has been doing that for the past three months and is looking to continue doing so while also adding a series of classes at Weatherford College on a pay-per-class basis.
On Friday, Graves - owner of MLJS Legacy, LLC - taught those who registered what LinkedIn was about.
LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking service which is mainly used for professional networking. In 2006, LinkedIn increased to 20 million members but eight years later many members are still figuring out what to do with their profiles and how to best use the platform.
Graves gave basic tips and featured articles on the network while participants followed along on their computers.
MLJS Legacy, LLC - intials stand for the first letters of her, her husband and daughters names - was created as derivative of Facebook marketing for her AdvoCare direct sales business. Graves’ goal is to be a resource to help business owners create an online presence with a defined strategy to leverage brand image and “connect, retain and build new customers.”
The first free class Graves offered was Facebook for business where she walked people through how to build a business page and also a customer relationship. The next class was on e-mail marketing, such as Constant Contact, and it gave attendees an idea on how to best reach customers with e-mails that tailored to their specific wants and needs.
Beginning in January at the college, there will be a total of seven hands-on workshops designed to help businesses navigate social media and promote their products or services.
“If implemented correctly, marketing with social media can bring remarkable success to your business,” Graves said.
Each class is $29 and include the following seven topics: Social Media Marketing 101; Facebook Marketing; LinkedIn; Getting Started with E-mail Marketing; Pinterest, Google+ and More; Twitter for Small Business; and Instagram to Promote Your Products.
