WHS junior's artwork to be displayed at State Capitol

Weatherford junior Art 3 student Amy Hibbits' custom-decorated ornament will hang in the Texas House of Representatives Chamber this holiday season.

Hibbits' artwork was created for Rep. Phil King, R-Weatherford, who represents District 61. One side of the ornament represents Weatherford as the "Cutting Horse Capital of the World," and the other side is a drawing of the Parker County Courthouse.

For the past five Christmas seasons, ornaments selected by a House Member have decorated the majestic 22-foot, Texas-grown Christmas tree that stands in the House Chamber of the Texas Capitol in Austin.

The tree will be on display Dec. 5 through Jan. 2 and will showcase the district nature of every House District to the thousands of Capitol visitors who enjoy the ornaments each year.
