Aledo High School juniors Stephanie Akin and Cameron Bean have been selected for the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Award of Excellence.

These two were chosen for their “outstanding grades, leadership potential and determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine.” As such, the two attended the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Washington, D.C.

“These young people are excellent examples of the great students we have at Aledo High School,” said AHS Principal Dan Peterson. “They are to be commended on this exceptional achievement.”

After graduation in 2016, Akin plans to attend either Texas A&M or the United States Military Academy at West Point, and study cardiothoracic surgery. Bean is still reviewing college options and plans to study neurology and neurosurgery.
