The Education Foundation Board of Directors is busy planning one of its most anticipated and entertaining events of the fall season.
On Sat., Oct. 18, the Foundation will host its Annual Gold Star Gala at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel.
The event kicks off with a social hour at 6 p.m. Guests are invited to browse the silent auction area, view live auction items and mingle before seating for dinner at 7:15 p.m. Guests will be then be treated to dinner and hear an “inspirational message” from former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Drew Pearson. Following a live auction, guests will have an opportunity to meet and greet Pearson.
In 1973, Pearson was selected as a free agent by the Dallas Cowboys, where he rose to become one of the NFL’s greatest wide receivers, earning career records of 489 receptions and 7,822 receiving yards, along with 189 rushing yards, 155 yards returning kickoffs and 50 touchdowns (48 receiving and two fumble recoveries). Pearson was named one of the Top 20 Pro Football All‐Time Wide Receivers, he was also recognized for his achievements by being named to the NFL 1970s All‐Decade Team.
Today, Pearson is the general manager of the IFL's Allen Wranglers and resides in the Dallas area.
Tickets for the event are $125 and may be obtained by contacting the Education Foundation Office at 817-598-2956. Reserved tables for 10 are also available for $1,250.

The WISD Education Foundation started in 2000 as a way to enrich the educational experience of our children. Since its beginning, the Foundation has given over $850,000 to WISD teachers to fund unique and innovative teaching programs. The Foundation’s School Supply Closet furnishes supplies to students in need and serves over 1,000 students annually.
