The City of Weatherford has appointed Rick Shaffer as interim director of water/wastewater and engineering effective immediately.
Shaffer previously served as the assistant director of water/wastewater and engineering for the city.
“We are fortunate to have someone within the organization that has the appropriate background and knowledge base to assume the role,” City Manager Sharon Hayes said. “We look forward to the skills and knowledge Mr. Shaffer brings to the Utilities Department and the City of Weatherford.”
Shaffer joined the organization in January of 2015. He is a graduate of UTA and has both a bachelor and master’s degree in civil engineering. He has spent the past 16 years of his career working in the engineering field.
The decision comes in response to the appointment of previous director James Hotopp to assistant city manager.
