All trees and shrubs have a beneficial purpose in nature. After the drought of 2011, many homeowners and landowners did not replace dead or damaged trees because they worried what 2012 would bring. But, planted in the right place for a specific purpose, trees and shrubs will grow to save energy when installed as windbreaks, will better crop or livestock production by protecting the area against the effects of wind, be a riparian buffer that improves water quality, all while providing shelter such as nesting sites, and possibly providing food for different types of wildlife. Looking around, many trees that catch the eye were planted 10 – 15 years ago and are still hale and hardy. Trees planted today will grace the future with there leafy boughs and bountiful beauty and shade.
