Rain gave way to cool temperatures and a nice turnout for the first ever Mad for Plaid event, benefiting the Ten For Them campaign, sponsored by the Aledo Education Foundation.
The challenge of the evening was for attendees to pledge $10 each month, for the following year, in support of the children attending AISD.
Shawn Callaway, executive director for the foundation, said he was pleased with the turnout.
“People in Aledo are fantastic,” he said. “They love and support the school system.”

The largest portion of funds raised by the foundation go towards Innovative Teaching Grants.
“We donate between $180,000 and $200,000 to specific teaching grants,” Callaway said. “Teachers can apply individually for up to $2,500, or as a team to receive $7,500.
Thursday night’s event saw musical performances from Nathan Lockhart and Jordan Isaac. Matt Tedder, former contest on the Voice, wrapped up the evenings festivities. All three musicians are Aledo graduates.
The foundations next event will be the Bearcats and Boots Gala on April 7.
