The Texas State Board of Education has recognized First Financial Bank of Weatherford with the Employers for Education Excellence Silver Level Award for outstanding support of Texas public schools. Recipients of this award show they encourage and support employees who attend parent-teacher conferences, and implement a policy to encourage and support employees who volunteer in school activities.
Mary Smith, Aledo ISD’s Career and Technical Education coordinator nominated First Financial Bank for the award.
“Bank President Jay Gibbs and his team have been a valuable community partner in supporting Aledo ISD,” Smith said. “Last school year, the bank’s Marketing AVP Elizabeth McGee took the lead and provided substantial support for two major district events – the inaugural STEAM Carnival and the inaugural Aledo Stock Show. Kent Hudson (VP of Aledo branch) was also extremely helpful.”
According to Smith, the STEAM Carnival provided both fun and educational activities for students by integrating science, technology, engineering, arts and math concepts. The Aledo Stock Show, hosted by the AHS Agriculture Department, provided family fun while raising funds for the AHS agricultural program. First Financial Bank donated all refreshments for both events and supplied volunteers to cover concession stands. The bank has also committed to continuing its sponsorship for the programs for the 2016-17 school year.
“I’m so excited the team is being recognized for their volunteer work,” Smith said.
