Davey Edwards is the program for the monthly meeting of the Parker County Republican Party on Thurs., April 7th at 7 pm at the Strain Community Room at Weatherford College.
Edwards is a professional land surveyor in Texas and Oklahoma, a licensed Texas state land surveyor, a certified U.S. Federal land surveyor, a certified geospatial information systems professional, and partner of Edwards Surveying in Decatur, with his father, Tommy Edwards, also a professional land surveyor in Texas. He is also an adjunct teacher of Geology at Weatherford College Wise County Campus.
He has his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University – College Station, master’s degree from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, and is projected to graduate with his doctorate degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in the spring of 2016. He has post graduate studies in cardio-physiology and civil engineering.
Over the last decade, he has pursued education and licensure in protecting private and public land rights through original cadastral system reconstruction and understanding natural riparian boundaries. He has recorded documents in the Texas General Land Office in Austin and has surveys that has been used in the United States Congress dealing with interstate boundary issues.

He has served as president of the Texas Society of Professional Surveying at the state level and at the local chapter level in the Fort Worth chapter. He has also served as president-elect for the local chapter of the Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University. He is currently serving as the governor appointed licensed state land surveyor member of the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveyors and has served as a public member of the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. He is currently serving on the Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi advisory board. He was voted the 2006 Texas Young Surveyor of the Year and the 2007 Chapter President of the Year.
His program will focus on the historical understanding of the Red River natural international-interstate riparian boundary. This provides information on the Texas-Oklahoma border, the rights and effects of titled land owners, and the federal BLM’s claims effect on private property rights along the river.
Davey currently lives near Alvord on his family’s land and has been married to his high school sweetheart, Sonja, for 23 years. Together, they have three boys; 17, 6, and 2.
