The City of Weatherford Parks, Recreation, and Special Events Department are hard at work organizing Holiday in the Park at Heritage Park.

The second annual event is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 11 and will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m., located at 315 Santa Fe Drive. Activities will include snow tubing hill with snow play area, carriage rides and bounce houses. Special appearances will also be made by Santa and Disney characters from the movie Frozen. Other activities will include ice skating, petting zoo and a special showing of the movie The Grinch Stole Christmas. Food trucks and holiday music will also be present for the public to enjoy.

“Holiday in the Park is a new event entering its second year,” said Shannon Goodman, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events. “Last year we did not anticipate such a large crowd and we have made substantial adjustments to make this year’s Holiday in the Park even better for the public to enjoy. We have added new activities this year while including activities we offered last year. I feel that this event is becoming a new tradition for the City of Weatherford and we are proud to offer this free event to the public.”

This year’s Holiday in the Park is being made possible by partnerships with SouthWest Autogroup, Victory Baptist Church, North Side Baptist Church, Maverick All Star Tumblers, Casa de Crazy Event Rentals and Airheads Party Rentals.

“We are really excited about our second year of hosting Holiday in the Park and are excited to partner with local groups and businesses,” said Special Events Coordinator Michael Howard. “The crowd was larger than we anticipated last year and we have made substantial improvements to alleviate parking issues, long lines and overcrowding. Safety is our top priority and we have worked even closer with public safety officials during this year’s planning process. Overall, the event will be bigger and better.”

Off-site parking will be made available at Weatherford College to provide more parking spaces, located at 225 College Park Drive. Shuttle services will be free of charge to the public. Limited on-site parking at Heritage Park will also be available on a first come, first serve basis. The public is encouraged to take direction from parking staff upon arrival and obey all traffic laws.

Admission to Holiday in the Park at Heritage Park is FREE to the public. For more information about the event, contact Special Events Coordinator Michael Howard at 817-598-4034 or visit www.weatherfordtx.gov/holidayinthepark.
