Annual Bag Lady Luncheon promises to deliver

The Parker County Committee on Aging is again inviting women from around the Metroplex to its fourth annual Bag Lady Luncheon.

The event, scheduled for Oct. 30, will feature a special guest speaker yet to be named.

Prior to remarks however, attendees will be allowed to love on a new Louis Vuitton purse purchased for $1,960 and donated by senior center supporter Greg McCormick’s daughter, Dusty Harold, from Riverside, Calif., and his sister Nikki Stubben from Lancaster, Calif. The two also donated several other designer handbags to the silent auction. Southwest Horizontal Drilling Service, Double J Saddlery and Aisle Ten in Aledo also donated beautiful new handbags for the auction.

So for those feeling like a Fendi or are passionate about Prada or for anything couture, a silent auction preview will begin at 11 a.m. Hundreds of designer handbags, some new and others gently used, all available for purchase.

Lunch will follow the auction beginning at noon. The Zonta Club of Parker County is once again providing desserts for the luncheon, said President Peggy Hutton.

“The Zonta Club of Parker County sees the need for the Senior Center,” Hutton said. “There are many seniors in our community that are having their needs met on a regular basis at the Senior Center. The ladies of Zonta strive to improve the lives of those around us. To help meet the financial means, the ladies of Zonta are once again are selling desserts at the Bag Lady Luncheon.”

Last year, the club donated almost $700 to Meals-on-Wheels from the sale of desserts.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Meals-on-Wheels program as well as other programs of the Parker County Committee on Aging.

The always-popular event will take place at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse building with the Parker County Hospital District as this year’s title sponsor. Plains Capital Bank will be sponsoring the speaker for the event while First National Bank will be sponsoring the lunch catered by Whistle Hill Cafe.
