Aledo ISD’s Districtwide Education Improvement Committee had its first 2015-16 meeting with more than 20 attendees committed to the new school year. DWEIC is a district-level planning and decision-making committee which includes representatives from the district’s professional staff, parents of students, business representatives and community members.
Aledo ISD Superintendent Derek Citty shared a brief bond update with information on the upgrades in safety/security entrances at several campuses. He also spoke of the twelve school buses on order, along with capital-expense projects that will begin soon. The pros and cons of a north and south location of the new elementary campus was addressed. Upgrades in technology will be completed during the summer.
Proposed class-size waivers were also reviewed. Currently there are four waivers – all at McCall Elementary in second grade. This information will be presented at the September board meeting for approval.
The next DWEIC meeting is Oct. 13 at 4:15 p.m. in the Aledo ISD Administration Building.
