The WC Choir, under the direction of Rob Laney, is ready to entertain with the concert Classics Old & New at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8.
“The choir’s repertoire reflects the concert title and a teaching philosophy,” Laney said. “Having the students work through a masterpiece by Mozart elevates them, and having them sing a contemporary gospel number meets them where they are.”
Pianist duo Hyeyoung Song, who is scheduled to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City in December, and Amy Gustafson return on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. for their annual Duo Azul concert.
This year’s concert is subtitled "A Child's Wonder" and features works inspired by, written for or written about children in honor of Amy Gustafson who is currently expecting a child of her own. The program includes works by Granados, Faure, Bizet, Haydn, Ravel and Schubert.
November wraps up with the fall semester’s Student Art Show and Reception. The show runs Nov. 9-27 and the reception will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in Texas Hall of the Alkek Fine Arts Center. The public is invited to the reception to meet and greet the student artists.
