With the holidays just ahead, this was a great time for the Aledo Children’s AdvoCats to receive a donation to go toward the many student needs the group fulfills. The Aledo ISD Community Partners presented a $1,500 check to the nonprofit organization to help with holiday shopping for families in need, and provide other necessities for children in the Aledo area. The AdvoCats are a charitable source of funding for food, school supplies, clothing, medical and living expenses, professional counseling and other essentials.
Last year, the AdvoCats’ Children’s Fund spent more than $30,000 during the school year meeting the needs of 400-plus students and their families. The AdvoCats Angel Project, which organizes Christmas gifts for qualified AISD students, donated a value of $36,000 in gifts to 438 children representing 185 families in the Aledo community.
AISD Director of Student Services and Safety Scott Kessel said, “Aledo ISD is so incredibly appreciative of the work of the Aledo Children’s AdvoCats. As we strive to attain our mission of providing a quality educational program, the AdvoCats are a crucial partner to ensuring that we are able to do just that – for all students!”
