Autumn is in the air. Leaves are beginning to fall and changes in the temperatures drop from the hot Texas days and nights. And Weatherford Art Association met to get their creative juices flowing. Johnny “Mahto” Hogue gave a wonderful pastel demonstration. Mahto works in pastels and oils. His favorite subject is portraiture. He is a self-taught artist and has been painting since 2006. Mahto will be giving a 2 day workshop at the Firehouse Gallery Nov. 11th and 12th. For more information call the Gallery at 817-599-3278.

Each of the meetings for the group has a talented artist to give a demonstration. Though it may not be the media you work in there is always something we can learn. Both as an artist and an individual there is always more we can learn.

Artist of the Month for October are the following:

1st Place - Marilyn Brumley, Mother’s Poppies oil will be on display at the Doss Center. Several other paintings of Marilyn’s will shown.

2nd place - Linda Skov, Reflections, oil will be at Fort Worth Community Credit Union.

3rd place - Jon Vandergriff, Proud Pair photography will be at First National Bank of Weatherford.

This year is rapidly coming to a close and a new year is ahead. Weatherford Art Association will be making changes, changes to a new location and just like any move it will take time and work to happen but we are looking forward to our new year and our new location wherever it will be. This amazing, talented group will continue to share their talents with the community. Visitors are always welcome.
