Authorities were trying to determine the cause of death of a man whose body was found Friday afternoon on the rocky slope of the south end of the dam at Lake Grapevine.

The man did not appear to have gone into the water, said Sgt. Robert Eberling, a police spokesman.

The body was discovered by a passing boater on the east side of the lake near Fairway Drive south of Rockledge Park, Eberling said. It was lying on the dam’s rocky slope about 40 feet from the water’s edge, according to a news release.

A parked vehicle belonging to the dead man was located on the north side of the dam, the release said. Information there indicated that he was a 38-year-old Lewisville man.

No obvious signs of foul play were found, the release said.

The body was taken to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. His name will be released after his family is notified.
