In January, Mid-Cities SOS (Supporters of SafeHaven) held its 9th. Annual Celebrity Chefs.
Themed “Step Into New Lives,” this event raises much needed money for the child victims of domestic violence at SafeHaven.
This year’s event brought in more than $118,000.
I can officially tell you that next year’s event chair has been named and the date announced. Mary MacDowell has accepted the position of chair for next year’s event and the date is slated for Jan. 18 at the Hurst Conference Center, located at 1601 Campus Drive in Hurst.
MacDowell has served as the chef liaison for the past two years and has already been hard at work signing up many of the top favorites to serve up those delicious offerings.
Thus far, J.R.’s Steakhouse, Wild Mushroom, Nonna Tata, Tastefully Yours, Sweet Memories Cakes and Catering, Savor Culinary Service, Cacharel Restaurant and Grand Ballroom, The Classic at Roanoke, Truluck’s, Z’s Café and Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine are all committed for next year.
Well done. That’s getting ahead of the pack.
Who is ready for spring to get here? I can tell you the gang over at North Texas SNAP (Special Need Assistance Program) is. This incredible organization, which offers programs that allow individuals with intellectual disabilities to live independent lives, is hosting its 2014 Annual Golf Tournament ChariTee on March 24 at Cowboys Golf Club, located at 1600 Fairway Drive in Grapevine. And good weather is what they are planning on.
The day begins at 11 a.m. with registration and a lunch served at 11:30 a.m. At 1:30 p.m., the tournament kicks off with a shotgun start. At 5:30 p.m., there is a 19th hole reception and a dinner and an awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

Walk on the style side
Speaking of set dates, the Greater Keller Women’s Club Garden of Roses Fashion Show is set for 10 a.m. March 29 at The Speedway Club at the Texas Motor Speedway, located at 3545 Lone Star Circle in Fort Worth. Themed “Walk on the Style Side,” this year’s event will feature mistress of ceremonies KTVT/Channel 11’s Ginger Allen and auctioneer Rick Stacy and fashions from Dillard’s.
Tickets are $70 each and can be obtained at the Keller Women’s Club website, www.gkwc.org, and clicking on the “Fashion Show” tab at the top of the page. That will take you to a page where you will see “Download Invitation” and “Download Ticket Reply Form” at the bottom of the page.
