The Colleyville tree signaled the start of the Christmas season in the city.
City leaders joined about 400 people from the community to light the Christmas tree in front of City Hall on Dec. 3.
After the tree celebration outside, the library opened its doors with Christmas activities like crafts and refreshments. Special guest Santa Claus stuck around after the tree lighting to greet children.
At the City Council meeting that followed Mayor David Kelly joked that Santa brought the weather with him. The city’s annual Holly Colley Holiday event that would have taken place on Dec. 6 was canceled because of weather.

“Fortunately we were able to have our tree lighting on Tuesday,” Kelly said. “It was a great opportunity for the residents to come together and enjoy the holidays and fellowship together.”
