Dallas Cowboys replaced the footballs in their hands with plates.
Several teammates joined running back DeMarco Murray at his first Celebrity Waiter Night Nov. 4 at Kirby’s Steakhouse in Southlake to raise money for his charity, the DeMarco Murray Foundation.
This was Murray’s first time waiting tables.
“I am fortunate enough that football was actually my first job,” he said. “I am excited about being able to help and give to little kids.”
Murray, alongside players like Miles Austin, Doug Free, Sean Lee and Jason Witten, served about 150 guests.
Murray said his teammates were “all in” when they heard about helping children.
“Those guys, by them showing up, shows the kind of character that they have,” he said.
The DeMarco Murray Foundation aims to provide educational support and resources for Dallas-area youth. Ultimately the foundation’s goal is to “touch the lives of more than 55,000 children by 2016.”
