The southbound ramp of International Parkway to Texas 360 at the southern end of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport was closed to traffic Thursday after pavement on one lane bucked, rising 6 to 8 inches above the other lanes, officials said.
The ramp will remain closed until engineers and crews resolve the problem, said Selma Stockstill, a spokeswoman for SouthGate Constructors.
“Just one small area buckled, but we had to close the whole ramp down for public safety,” Stockstill said.
She did not know what caused the buckling.

“We don’t know, and we are not speculating,” she said. “We will be working nonstop until this is done.”
SouthGate Constructors is the contractor on the Midtown Express Project, which is adding toll lanes and reconstructing parts of Texas 183 south of the airport as well as Texas 114 and Loop 12 on the Dallas County side. The ramp with the buckled pavement crosses 183.
Even though the company has yet to begin construction in the area, Stockstill said, it is already responsible for road work.
“We are telling drivers to go northbound on Texas 360 and turn around,” she said. “I think that’s the quickest, simplest detour.”
