Eight Pollo Tropical restaurants in Texas, including locations in Southlake, Denton, Watauga, Frisco and Dallas will close, according to owner Fiesta Restaurant Group, Inc.

The location in Hurst that opened in July is not on the list for closing, according to the company, which is based in Addison.

Three of the restaurants will be rebranded as Taco Cabana, according to a statement from Fiesta. The statement did not specify which restaurants would be rebranded.

The company also is closing a Pollo Tropical in Nashville and one in Atlanta, the statement says.

The San Antonio Express-News reported Fiesta plans to add as many as 17 new Pollo Tropical locations in Georgia and Florida next year, plus 10 new Taco Cabanas in Texas.

The Express-News also reported Fiesta stock has dropped more than 31 percent in the past year, closing at $27.05 Monday compared to $39.70 a year ago.
