An overturned tanker truck shut down U.S. 377 in Argyle for hours Friday.

The road was closed in both directions from about 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Argyle Police Chief William Tackett said.

The accident, which involved only the truck, happened about a half mile from Liberty Christian School. The driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to a post on the Argyle police Facebook page.

Investigators were still working to determine the cause of the wreck. No gas leaked from the tanker truck during the wreck, but some spilled out when the truck was turned upright.

The cleanup process was delayed as crews worked to clean the road and transfer the remaining gas to a different truck, Tackett said.

U.S. 377 was closed for several days in August after a train derailed north of Trophy Club, a few miles south of the site of Friday’s accident in Argyle.
