Mansfield loses tough one to Carroll
The Mansfield Varsity Silver hockey team lost a tough game to Southlake Carroll on Thursday night by a score of 4-3 in a shoot out at the Euless StarCenter Green Arena.
Shots on goal in the game were virtually even, with Carroll just edging Mansfield 30-29.
Things got off to a great start for Mansfield, which took a 1-0 lead at the 4:42 mark of the first period on a goal from William Frye with a Cameron Bickford assist.

Mansfield led 1-0 at the end of the first period.
In the second period, Andrew Holland extended the Varsity Silver team's lead with assists from Frye and Nicholas Cyprian to make it 2-0 Mansfield.
With just under three and a half minutes to play in the second period, Matthew Tracy tacked on a third goal for Mansfield on assists from Bickford and Daniel Dacy IV to give the Varsity Silver team a 3-0 lead heading into the third period.
But in the third period, Southlake scored three unanswered goal to send the game into overtime and eventually won in a shootout.
Cole Seevers stopped 27 of 30 shots on goal in the contest.
Mansfield will play Denton County at 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the Farmers Branch Miller Arena.
Carter leads Lady Wolves past Denton Guyer, remain unbeaten through nine
The Timberview girls basketball team defeated Denton Guyer by a score 52-48 on Saturday to move to 9-0 on the season.
Chennedy Carter led the way for the girls with 29 points in the game, while Treylynn Tyler added nine points in the game for the Lady Wolves.
Hailee Walls, Lauryn Thompson, Taylah Thomas, London Scott and Destiny Jackson all combined for 14 points in the game.
Timberview played Garland Naaman Forest on Tuesday after the paper had already gone to press and will travel to Lancaster at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 to open up district competition.
