New logo to soon adorn MISD athletes
The Mansfield ISD athletics department announced its new sponsorship by Under Armour. The sponsorship means that all future uniforms and workout gear for middle and high school sports in the athletics program will be branded by Under Armour.
MISD will receive a 40 percent discount on clothing purchases and a 35 percent discount on shoe purchases. A percentage of the money spent will also go back to the district. Local vendors for the athletics department will remain the same.
“I think it’s a great benefit to our athletics program. It enables us to provide more to our student athletes, not at the expense of the district,” said athletics director Debbie Weems.
Weems said the transition to Under Armour will be a gradual process. The district will not get rid of any current uniforms, but will purchase from Under Armour for future needs. She estimates that within the next three to five years, the athletics program will be completely branded by Under Armour.
Legacy golfers pick up title
The Legacy boys golf team finished as champions of the North Texas 2-Step tournament last week. The team finished the tournament in a weather-shortened second round with a 303-153 total.
