Mansfield Varsity Silver team doubles up on Keller
The Mansfield Varsity Silver hockey team defeated Keller on Thursday night by a score of 4-2 at the Euless StarCenter Green Arena.
It was actually Keller that jumped out to an early lead in the game, but Nicolas Cyprian tied the game up at 1-1 with less than two minutes to play in the first period.
William Frye and Daniel Dacy IV both earned assists on the Cyprian goal.
Cyprian added a second goal at the 7:23 mark of the second period to gain the lead for the Silver team, and Cameron Bickford and Micah Amox earned the assists.
Cyprian picked up the hat trick and extended the lead with under five minutes to play in the second period on another assist from Bickford to make it a 3-1 game heading into the third period.
Matthew Tracy scored on a power-play goal for Mansfield at the 11:37 mark of the third period in the game, and although Keller scored before the end of the game, it could not mount a comeback.
Mansfield outshot Keller 23-19 in the game.
Mansfield will next play Frisco at 9:15 p.m. Thursday at the Green Arena.
Lake Ridge defeats Legacy, sets up big showdown with Summit
The Lake Ridge football team defeated Legacy by a score of 56-14 last week to improve to 8-0 on the season and will square off with fellow undefeated team Summit on Friday.
Jett Duffey passed for 217 yards and three touchdowns in the game, and rushed for 114 yards as well.
Duke Carter rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns for the Broncos.
Lake Ridge and Summit will play at 7:30 p.m. at Vernon Newsom Stadium.
Timberview holds off Red Oak
The Timberview football team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 21-13 victory over Red Oak last week to move to 2-3 in district and into a three-way tie for fourth place in the 14-5A standings.
Audricke Gaines scored on a two-yard run to start the game off for the Wolves, and Larry Jones broke a 43-yard run to make it 14-0 Timberview at the half.
Jones rushed for 146 yards in the game for Timberview.
Jaylin Loftis would score on a 31-yard pass from Devin Williams.
Timberview will take on Legacy at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Anderson Stadium in Mansfield in a game with big implications as well, as Legacy is also tied for fourth in the district standings.
