Mansfield Parks and Recreation ready for adult basketball, volleyball registration

The Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department is accepting team registrations for adult leagues for both basketball and volleyball.

Also, the department is looking for tennis instructors. The tennis programs would begin in the spring and summer.

Those interested can contact Nick Garcia, Recreation Program Specialist, at 817-453-5420, ext. 4206.

Basketball underway

The early season preparations have been underway for just over a week as Mansfield ISD girls basketball teams fine-tune their lineups, rotations and schemes before the district schedule begins in mid-December.

Mansfield has dropped its first two games, but was to take on Summit on Tuesday and will look to tournament play this weekend.

For Summit, in addition to the matchup with Mansfield, they’ll build on their opening win over North Forney. After tournament play, they’ll travel to always-tough Colleyville Heritage.

Timberview just completed play at Heritage’s tournament last weekend and went 1-2. They’ll host Midlothian on Nov. 21.

For Lake Ridge, they opened the season with a 37-34 win over Arlington Martin. They were hosting Burleson on Tuesday.

Legacy followed their season-opening loss to Kennedale with participation in the Lady Spartan Classic. They will host Richland on Friday and Paschal on Nov. 25.
