Mansfield battles, comes up short against Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage
The Mansfield varsity hockey team saw its offense come to life for the first time this season, but fell a little bit short in its bid for its first victory of the season, losing to Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage by a score of 10-6 on Thursday night at the Euless Green Arena.
Shots on goal were even for the contest at 29 each.
Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage took a two-goal lead into the second period and led 4-0 before Mansfield was able to get onto the board.

In the second period, the varsity team broke through in the third minute on a goal from Cameron Bickford to cut the Mansfield deficit to three.
Andrew Holland earned the assist on the Bickford goal.
James Boisvert scored just over two minutes later for Mansfield to make it 4-2 on a Holland assist.
Kyle Scott made it a one-goal game just past the six-minute mark on an assist from James DeMarque.
Boisvert tied it up two minutes later on an assist from DeMarque, and Mansfield actually took a brief lead at just under the four-minute mark of the period on a goal from Scott.
Matt Murphy earned the assist on the Scott goal.
Grapevine/ Colleyville Heritage scored three unanswered goals before James Sullivan added a sixth goal in the third period of play on an assist from Bickford.
Grapevine/Colleyville was able to pull away late for the victory.
The varsity team will play at 8 p.m. on Thursday against Arlington/Midlothian at the Euless Star Center Green Arena.
Mansfield JV Silver rallies late to earn victory
The Mansfield Junior Varsity Silver hockey team trailed 3-2 late in the second period on Sunday evening but scored four unanswered goals to defeat the Southlake Carroll Dragons 6-3.
Nicholas Cyprian scored first in the game for Mansfield on an unassisted goal, but Carroll tied it up four and half minutes later.
Austin Perdue regained the lead for Mansfield with 4:21 left to play in the first period on an assist from Kyle Scott.
The Dragons scored two unanswered goals in the second period to give Carroll its only lead of the game before Mansfield tied it 3-3 on a goal from Cyprian before the end of the second period.
Scott picked up the assist on Cyprian's second goal.
Karsten Portell and Christopher Pressley both scored in the third period for the JV Silver team, and Cyprian completed the hat trick, as Mansfield pulled away for the victory.
Cyprian, Perdue, William Frye and Hunter Dorram all earned assists on the Portell and Pressley goals.
Mansfield will play Plano West at 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the Plano World Arena.
