Baldwin leads the way in bi-district win
Bailee Baldwin mashed two home runs and doubled as the Mansfield softball team advanced past the first round of the playoffs on Friday with a 10-7 victory over Hurst L.D. Bell.
Natalied Jackson doubled in the game for the Lady Tigers, and Payton Simpkins tripled against Bell.
The Lady Tigers had 11 hits and committed five errors in the game, and will play Keller in the area round at a time and date to be determined.

Mansfield has solid showing at region
The Mansfield track and field team had a good showing at the Region 1-6A meet last week, with three athletes earning top eight finishes.
Julius Lewis took second place in the long jump final with a jump of 23-01.50, while teammate Jackson Gleeson finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.32.
Anne Spearman finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.72.
MISD schools show up big at region
Mansfield ISD athletes competed very well at the Region 2-5A track and field meet this past weekend, with multiple athletes finishing in the top three overall.
Ivy Walker finished third in the 100-meter hurdles for the Summit girls team, while teammate Xariah Williams finished third in the 300 hurdles.
The Summit girls also finished third in the 4x400 meter relays at region.
Walker won a regional championship in the long jump and the triple jump,
Medric Roberson won a regional championship on the boys side for Summit in the 110 hurdles and second in the 300 hurdles.
Teammate Larenz Lester finished third in the long jump.
Over at Lake Ridge, Faith Ette finished third in the shot put event on the girls side, and teammate Valencia Bullock finished third overall in the triple jump.
On the boys side, Taylor Jordan finished third overall in the high jump, and teammate Jimmy Enobaber won the regional championship in the triple jump.
For the Legacy girls, Ja'leesa Giles finished third overall in the 100 dash along with second in the 200 event.
On the boys side, Garret Moore edged out Roberson for a victory in the 300 hurdles after finishing second to him in the prelims.
The Legacy 4x100 team finished second overall at region, and the 4x200 teams was third.
