Mansfield ISD soccer players dominate District 14-5A All-District teams
The four Mansfield ISD girls soccer teams were well represented when the All-District teams were announced for District 14-5A recently.
In addition to the first and second team and honorable mentions, several area players and coaches also received special honors.
Lake Ridge junior, Eryn Harrington was named Co-MVP along with McKenzie Posey of Waxahachie.
The Offensive MVP was Ari Owens, sophomore, from Timberview. Midfield MVP was Renee Nguyen, senior, from Lake Ridge and the Utility MVP was Brooke Lampe, sophomore, Lake Ridge.
Lake Ridge also picked up Keeper MVP in Brooke Lampe, sophomore and Coach of the Year went the to the Lady Eagles’ Kim Wallace.
Those named to the first team include, from Lake Ridge: Harrington, Lampe, Nguyen, Caiti Broccoli; from Legacy: Peyton McGee, Khirah Madison, Kyleigh Hall, Brooke Whetzel; Timberview: Ashleigh Young, Anna Cox; Summit: Yaya Mendoza.
The second team includes from Lake Ridge: Marissa Ling, Chloe Emerson, Aysia Holder, Ashton Peeks; Legacy: Emmy Lass, Stevie Riddle, Ashley Felan, Jessica Davault; Timberview: Natalie Frah, Jaleesa Riggins; Summit: Victoria Harris.
Honorable mention includes, from Lake Ridge: Kristen Carter, Brandi Woodall; Legacy: Hailey Murin, Ari Hernandez; Timberview: Cloe’ Lespangnol, Blake Aldridge, Madi Saylor; Summit: Rachel Stewart.
Mansfield ISD schedules summer camps for football, other sports
The Mansfield and Legacy football camps for grades 1-9 will be June 15-18. The Mansfield camp will run from 8:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m., while Legacy will go from 8 a.m.-noon.
Lake Ridge’s football camp is set for June 22-25, from 8 a.m.-noon.
Football camp information for Summit and Timberview will be finalized soon.
The first camps will start as soon as June 9, when Legacy conducts baseball and volleyball camps, while Lake Ridge will host baseball, softball and girls basketball.
Most high school campuses will also have summer camps for sports, including, volleyball, softball, baseball, boys and girls basketball, and soccer. Some schools will offer other camps such as pitching and golf.

Summit track and field qualifies several athletes for regionals
The Summit track and field team moved several athletes on to the Region II meet at the University of Texas at Arlington on May 1-2.
As a team, the Summit boys and girls each took home runner-up trophies, just behind Lancaster.
The Lady Jaguars finished just 14 total team points behind the area champs.
Those finishing in the top four spots at the area meet qualified for regionals, and include:
Lauryn Doublet and Asa Rice, 1600m; both 4x400m relay teams; Medric Roberson, 300m hurdles; Chris Walker, 400m; both 4x200m relay teams; Ivy Walker wins the high jump and qualifies in the triple jump, as well the 100m hurdles, along with Xariah Williams; Myles Adams in the shot and discus while breaking the school record in the discus; Jasmine Ayena and Ini Ukpong both qualify in the shot; double qualifier, Larenz Lester winning the long jump and also qualifies in the triple jump; Doublet and Diana Hernandez in the 3200m; girls’ 4x100m relay; Jordan Washington in the 100m; and Dominique Norwood in the 200m; Williams in the 300m hurdles.
