Students at two Mansfield elementary schools will get a gift too big to put under the tree this Christmas.
Alice Ponder Elementary and J.L. Boren Elementary schools are on schedule to be completed by Dec. 20 so that furniture and supplies can be moved in. Students at the two schools will move into the new buildings at 102 Pleasant Ridge Drive and 1400 Country Club Drive for the second semester Jan. 6.
The new schools are part of the $198.5 million bond, approved by voters in 2011.
Students from Alice Ponder have been attending school at the former Tarver-Rendon Elementary at 12350 Rendon Road, while J.L. Boren students are in classes at Judy Miller Elementary at 403 N. Holland Road.
Teachers will get a sneak peek at their new schools after the Thanksgiving break, said Assistant Superintendent Jeff Brogden.
