Superintendent Jim Vaszaukas will return to duty June 16.
In April, the Mansfield school district announced Vaszauskas’s medical leave to have a a returning thymoma cancer removed. He had planned to return by August.
The surgery went well and doctors removed the cancer completely without any need for radiation treatments, according to a media release.
“My family is humbled by the support of the MISD community,” Vaszauskas said in the release. “I have no doubt that your prayers and positive thoughts are why the medical team no longer feels that radiation is necessary.”
