Mansfield’s Back to School Bash got local youngsters ready to the new school year.

The Mansfield school district, along with Common Ground Network and 200 vendors, handed out 4,500 backpacks, gave more than 200 free haircuts, plus vaccinations, vision and hearing screenings. There were also activities, performances and lots of information at the first-time event at the Mansfield ISD Center for Performing Arts.

“It was a great community event,” said Donald Williams, assistant superintendent of communications and marketing.
