Students perform spring recital

On May 29, Mickey Legg presented her students in their annual spring recital at her Mansfield studio. Kaley Carrubba, Maya Justice and Alec Dang played duets accompanied by Legg as well as several solos. Katie Nguyen, student of Harriet Motter, played two solos and two duets with Motter. Anna Justice played “A Time for Us” by Nino Rota and “Tenderly” by Catherine Rollin. Morgan Peterson played four selections including “Sonatina in A Minor” by L.F. Olson.

Motter, guest piano teacher, awarded Katie with her International Piano Guild certificate (15 pieces). Katie also received two blue ribbons for her performances in the Arlington Music Teachers Association spring solo-duet festival. Motter also gave Katie two composer statuettes for her practice and performance awards.

Legg presented Kaley Carrubba with her first Federated gold cup, Arlington Music Teachers Achievement Trophy, her silver theory medal and music for her practice award. Kaley also earned a State Piano Guild certificate. Anna Justice, Mansfield High senior, received her second Federated Gold Cup for accumulating 30 points in festivals sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs. Morgan Peterson also received the AMTA Achievement Trophy, her gold theory medal and music for her practice record. Morgan played a National Piano Guild program (10 pieces) and received her certificate. She earned a superior rating in the Federated festival and has five points toward her first gold cup.

Alec Dang played his first recital program and earned the trophy for practice. His solos included “Classical March” by Ferdinand Beyer. Maya Justice played a District Piano Guild Program. Her solos included “The Fly's Adventure” and “Snowflake Rag” both by Faber. Katie Nguyen and Morgan Peterson attained the Critic's Circle Rating for their Guild auditions.
