As the city’s tourism manager, Theresa Cohagen’s job is to bring visitors to Mansfield. But there’s one that Cohagen wants even more than others -- Chet Garner.
Garner is the creator, host and executive producer of “The Daytripper,” a travel show that explores landmarks and hidden gems across Texas, one town at a time. The Emmy Award-winning half-hour program airs on PBS stations across the state, including on Dallas’ KERA at 10:30 a.m. Saturdays.
On Jan. 8, Garner posted The Daytripper Viewer’s Choice contest to let viewers decide the destination for his final show of the season. At press time, Mansfield was in the top five. Voting wraps at noon Feb. 6.
“It would be great for the leisure traveler that enjoys quirky and unique things about Texas towns and hasn't had a chance to visit Mansfield, Texas,” Cohagen said. “I can’t buy the type of exposure that The Daytripper would provide. My budget is not that large and the show has a lot of devoted followers.”
