More than 30 years ago, the City of Mansfield began recognizing the efforts of volunteers and community leaders annually on the Wall of Honor. The ceremony is held each year in conjunction with the annual City Employee Appreciation Banquet. The Wall of Honor recognition is designed to say thank you to those in the city who made a difference in the community through their work with the city or volunteer efforts. Nominations are made to a committee of city employees and the honorees selected via secret ballot. Since it began, 61 individuals have been named to the Wall of Honor. Their photos and plaques detailing their contributions are hanging in City Hall, 1200 E. Broad St. The Wall of Honor features some of the city’s most dedicated volunteers whose works range from city-wide beautification and historic downtown restoration to park development and youth program support.
