Women’s Club adds Festival of Trees to home tour

Mansfield Women’s Club Holiday Home Tour co-chair Karen Payton is excited about sponsoring the Festival of Trees. The concept came from a 45-year-old fund-raiser event that she attended in Utah. Trees were decorated and donated by various businesses, organizations and individuals, then displayed for the public to view and buy. The trees were auctioned off to the highest bidders during the festival to raise money for a special charity.

After the success of the Holiday Home Tour last year, the committee agreed to add the Festival of Trees to complement the tour. The holiday season kicks off the first weekend in December with events sponsored by the city including Hometown Holidays at the Mansfield Activities Center on Dec. 5 and the Hometown Holidays Parade on Dec. 6.

The Mansfield Women’s Club will open the doors to the Festival of Trees at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 and Dec. 6, then conclude the Hometown Holidays weekend Dec. 7 with the annual Holiday Home Tour at 6 p.m.

Festival of Trees chairwoman Debby Frear is thrilled with the response so far. Trees already promised include themes of angels, baby’s first Christmas, Disney’s Frozen, college themes, old-fashioned Santas, a Tiffany tree, clowns and many more. For information call Debby at 817-483-3323 or email All trees will be new, pre-lit artificial trees, fully decorated with skirts, and between 3 feet and 3 1/2 feet tall. A sign by each tree will list the donor’s name. Gifts or toys may be included under the tree. More information may be found on Mansfield Women’s Club website, or the Mansfield Women’s Club Facebook page.

All of the proceeds collected from the Festival of Trees will be donated to Harvesting International Ministry Food Bank in the Mansfield Women’s Club Caring Center located at 6th Avenue and Broad Street.

Admission is free to the public. Viewing and silent auction will be in the Old Rock Gym, 605 E. Broad St. from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 5 and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Dec. 6. Winners will pick up their trees Dec. 8.

The Holiday Home Tour will be held on Dec. 7 with five fabulous homes within the city limits. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door of any tour home and may be purchased at Frost Bank, Creekside Collections and Mansfield Community Bank, or from any MWC member.
