Piano students celebrate Halloween

Students celebrated Halloween with a piano party Oct. 26 at the music studio of Mickey Legg. After playing, students and families enjoyed refreshments and bingo. Students included Morgan Peterson, Kaley Carrubba, Rhea Maheshwari, Elizabeth Jamie, Gabi Senato, Maya Justice and Ian Lee. Ian and Legg played a duet arrangement of Beethoven's “Rage Over a Lost Penney.” Gabi and Rhea started the program off with a duet by Melody Bober, “A Frightful Night.” Maya included a fun “Tarantella” piece by Nancy Faber. Morgan, a first-year student, played “The Witch Who Lost her Broom,” and dressed the part. Kaley and Rhea played duets accompanied by Legg. Elizabeth played a piece from the Harry Potter movie.

Elizabeth Jamie, Rhea Maheshwari and Kaley Carrubba participated in the Arlington Music Teachers' Association Solo/Duet Festival at the University of Texas at Arlington on Oct. 18. Elizabeth received a superior plus on her solo; Kaley received superior plus on her duet and superior on her solo; and Rhea received a superior plus on both her solo and her duet. These students are completing requirements for AMTA trophies to be awarded in May.

Elizabeth Jamie, a guest performer, is a student of Lexa Rock of Mansfield. All students attend Mansfield schools.
