On Aug. 23, 1890, the town of Mansfield held an election to determine whether the area that had been legally platting with the county would be incorporated by the state and known as the Town of Mansfield. Determining that a majority of the votes were in favor of incorporation, it was ordered that the area on the plat filed with Tarrant County be incorporated and the charter and ordinances were signed by then Mayor Dr. R.H. Greer and E.R. Holland, secretary. The city’s population was 418.
