Foundation donates books for newborns

The Raven A. Fecunda's Sunflowers of Destiny Foundation donated 200 children’s books to the Read to Me program at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center on Oct. 24.

“We are thrilled to plant a love for reading in the minds of the area's youngest residents,” says Angel Biasatti, director of community and public relations for Methodist Mansfield. “The Read to Me program includes the whole family in welcoming a newborn and encouraging parents to read to their children.”

“Reading to children is a great and easy way to build early literacy skills,” says John Phillips, president of Methodist Mansfield. “It lays the foundation for communication; builds listening, memory, and vocabulary skills; and introduces numbers, letters, colors, and shapes in a fun way.”
