Mansfield has players named to all-district squad

The Mansfield girls basketball team had a number of players receive all-district honors this season.

Senior Ki'Asha Harris earned second-team honors, while sophomore Lindsey Wurm and freshman Whitney Yates were both selected as honorable mentions.

Harris, Wurm, Ki'Ana Harris, Danielle Johnson and Mykel Jones were all selected to the Academic first team for District 8-6A.

MISD schools well represented on 4a all-district squads

Several players from the MISD were selected to the all-district team this year in girls basketball.

From Legacy, Grace Daniels was selected as the Offensive MVP, while Bethany Ross was named to the first team and Kala Jones earned second-team honors.

Over at Lake Ridge, Kylie Collins and Kristian Dewitt earned first-team honors. Kennedy Burks and Marina Hawkins were named to the second team.

From Timberview, Trelynn Tyler was selected to the first team, while Allyson Hinds and Ugo Nwarie both earned second-team honors.

At Summit, Nia Jackson and Taylor Jones made first team. Khadijah Kelley was named to the second team.

The first-team Academic All-District squad included Jaelyn Bethea, Timia Bethea, Burks, Anna Chambliss, Collins, Krystina Greer, Hawkinss, Janayaha Hines, Kayla Hines, DeShonae Tillman and Tamara Track from Lake Ridge.

Sophia Hannabas, Ridglea Hearne, Amelia Jackson, Kala Jones, Channa Parvin, Ross and Kaiygen Stubblefield were selected from from Legacy.

For Summit, Omia Bell, Celsi Caraway, Courtney Gilmore, Taylor Jones, Kadijah Kelley, A'jyana Rodgers and Kylicia Smith earned the honor, and for Timberview, Alesa Gerald, Allyson Hinds, Sabrina Labranche, Mia Milliner, Taylah Thomas and Hailee Walls were selected.

Summit baseball team picks up draw

The Summit baseball team earned a 6-6 tie on Saturday against Richardson.

Alex Palmer hit two doubles in the game for the Jaguars, and Andrew Dubose doubled as well.

Summit opened up district on Tuesday against Arlington Seguin after the press deadline; see for results.

It will travel to Waxahachie at 7 p.m. on Friday.
