Fire investigators determined last week that a school bus fire with 10 students on board was accidental.
The Northwest Independent School District school bus was southbound on Interstate 35W near the Keller-Hicks Road exit on Dec. 2 when the driver, Heather Bowen, and the high school students heard a loud noise. They soon noticed smoke and flames coming from the rear of the bus.
Bowen continued on the side of the road until she could pull off the exit ramp, and everyone quickly got off the bus. Within two or three minutes, the bus was fully engulfed in flames.
No one was injured.

The Fort Worth Fire Department doused the flames and investigated the cause, said Lt. Kyle Falkner. The intial report has ruled it accidental, but more is left to do to identify the exact cause, he said.
