Recently graduated Keller shortstop Kaitlyn Alderink was named as an Honorable Mention All-American for the second straight year by FloSoftball.com for USA Today.
Alderink is a Texas A&M signee and was ranked the 20th-best recruit in the country from this year’s senior class. She hit .396, scored 44 runs, had 21 stolen bases and was part of the solid Lady Indians defense which helped Keller to the Region I finals before losing to Lewisville, the eventual state runner-up.
Also, senior-to-be pitcher Kaylee Rogers was named to the All-State team.

The District 5-6A all-district team was packed with Keller ISD players.
Keller’s Cassie Marciante was a Co-Most Valuable Player in the district. Central’s Desiree James was the Defensive MVP and Timber Creek’s Courtney Sebazco was named Co-Defensive Newcomer of the Year in her freshman year. Audrey Ward, a Keller sophomore, was named Offensive Newcomer of the Year.

Second team members are, from Central: Hannah Allred, Caitlin Davis and Maya Warrior; Fossil Ridge: Emilee Vaughn; Keller: Maddie Ellis, Brooke Morgan, Kristen Ricks and Kristen Thomas; Timber Creek: Megan Almond, Micaela Birt, Imani Nkrumah and Kaitlyn Carroll.
Former Indian hits 4-flat mile mark
Former Keller track standout Austen Dalquist (2014) ran a four-minute mile recently at the Saint Louis Festival of Miles. The Arkansas Razorbacks athlete has also clocked a 30:20 in the 10K and a 24:30 in the 8K. He’s also turned in a 2:53 in the 1200m while running mostly indoor meets. Dalquist was a redshirt for the outdoor season, so he competed as “Unattached” at the Saint Louis event.
“I’ve never been in better shape in my life,” Dalquist said via text message. “I’ve had some pretty great workouts on top of some good races…workouts that I never thought I would be able to do. I really got my confidence up for races,” he said.
Keller diver paired for Junior Pan Am Games
Emily Grund, a sophomore-to-be at Keller, was featured on KTVT Channel 11 for her upcoming trip to the Junior Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada, July 10-29. Her partner, McKenzie Willborn, will look to place in the 14-18 year old synchronized diving, three-meter board event.
Keller Jets collect fourth straight Commissioner’s Cup
The Keller Jets picked up their fourth straight Commissioner’s Cup in the U11 soccer division.
The soccer champions, coached by Robert Broom, include, Eli Jordan, Ryan Patullo, Jack Knowles, Blake Bundy, Aiden Hernandez, Benett Cooper, Vinnay Menon, Parker McElwee, Riley Patrick, Colton Blythe, Nate Fout, Matthew Estrada and Sean Sanders.
Nowitzki visits Central
Dirk Nowitzski made an appearance at Central for the Dallas Mavs Basketball camp last week. In addition to hosting the Mavs’ camp, Central also hosted 117 kids at a recent Chargers event. They are also hosting a basketball skills camp July 6-9 for grades 1-6 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m and for grades 7-9 from 1:30-5 p.m.
The varsity and JV teams competed at the UNT team camp where the varsity went 3-1 in the camp tournament. They will also go to Abilene at the end of June.
