Police want to remind residents in north Tarrant and south Denton counties to expect a lot more traffic near Texas Motor Speedway this week because of the NASCAR races.
The O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, and the Duck Commander 500 will start at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, a different schedule than recent spring races at the track in far north Fort Worth.
Police will be directing traffic near the Speedway before and after the races.
More than 175,000 spectators are expected, and Roanoke police reminded residents on social media that the roads in the town and around the area will likely be congested Thursday - Saturday.
Officers and volunteers will “provide extra patrol and security” to Roanoke neighborhoods during that time, according to police.
