Ed Russell McIver, the man charged for a second time in the shooting of Fort Worth officer Matt Pearce, was released from jail Wednesday morning.
McIver’s bond on an attempted capital murder charge had been reduced from $2 million to $12,000. State district Judge Ruben Gonzalez also lowered bail to $2,500 on two other charges — possession of a controlled substance and theft of a firearm. Bail had previously been $10,000 and $5,000 respectively.
A Tarrant County grand jury did not indict McIver on charges of attempted capital murder and possession of a controlled substance. The district attorney’s office refiled the charges and plans to present them to another grand jury.
