Water is flowing to customers through alternate transmission lines after a 42-inch water main ruptured Sunday night in Fort Worth and caused a loss of water pressure until the break was isloated.

The break happened at about 8 p.m. Sunday at the northwest corner of Interstate 30 and Beach Street.

“We quickly got the water section isolated, there are no customers without water,” said Mary Gugliuzza, Fort Worth Water Department spokeswoman.

Crews worked overnight but were unable to expose the actual break, which is believed to be somewhere under I-30 or service road, Gugliuzza said.

The situation has to be fully assessed to determine what it’s going to take to get the break fixed, and contractors are being called in to help with the next steps, she said.

“The water is off for that segment of pipe,” she said. “There are other transmission mains distributing water to the same areas served by this line.”
