Two men are in jail in connection with the April fatal shooting of a 27-year-old Fort Worth man.

Van L. McLeain, 22, and Jaylen Jamichael Jones, 23, face charges of murder in the death of Fabian Diaz.

Homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman said investigators believe that the three men were involved in a physical altercation on the night of April 21.

The two suspects left but later returned, Loughman said, searching for Diaz and finding him in a business parking lot in the 8300 block of Lakewood Hill Drive in northeast Fort Worth.

A second fight took place, in which one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot Diaz in the head, Loughman said.

Officers responding to a report of shots being fired at 11:14 p.m. were flagged down by a witness and directed to Diaz, who lay critically injured next to a vehicle.

Diaz was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day at 6:41 p.m.

Jones was arrested Tuesday and McLeain on Thursday morning, Loughman said.

Jones and mcLeain were both being held in the Mansfield Jail on Friday with bail set at $250,000.
