Fort Worth police officer Matt Pearce remains in critical condition at John Peter Smith Hospital after being shot multiple times, but has made some improvements.
His kidneys are beginning to improve, which will allow a scan to determine damage to his aorta, his wife posted to a GoFundMe page on April 1.
Pearce was able to sit up for much of the day, and is eating a soft diet with thickened liquids, according to the page.
On March 15 Pearce was a responding officer chasing Ed R. McIver and his son through far west Fort Worth. The chase ended with a standoff
McIver was shot and killed by police. Police officials have not reported how many times Pearce was shot, but the GoFundMe page states he was hit seven times — in the cheek, arm, chest and leg.
Ed McIver Jr., 20, faces charges that include evading arrest and attempted capital murder.
