(Updated 6:50 a.m.) One person was killed Tuesday afternoon in a five-vehicle pileup on East Loop 820 just north of Interstate 30, officials said.
James Donohue, 62, of Fort Worth, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
Another person was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in critical condition. Three other people with minor injuries were treated at the scene, a MedStar spokesman said.
Emergency crews responded to the wreck in a northbound lane of 820 at 4:15 p.m. Donohue was in the third car in the pileup, said Sgt. Steve Enright, a police spokesman.
Northbound lanes were shut down at Interstate 30, police said.
The cause of the wreck was under investigation Tuesday evening.
