A 28-year-old Springtown woman was killed Wednesday evening when she lost control of her car on wet pavement, a state trooper reported.

Angela Ruiz, 28, of Springtown, was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 6700 block of Farm Road 51, the Tarrant County medical examiner reported Thursday.

Ruiz was driving a 1997 Toyota northbound when she tried to pass a vehicle in a passing zone, said Trooper Ricky Hunter, a DPS spokesman. Her car spun out on the wet road and crashed into an oncoming 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser driven by a Weatherford woman.

The Weatherford woman was treated for injuries at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth and released, and the 3-year-old passenger was treated and released from Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Hunter said. Monica S. Nagy
